The Amazon rainforest doesn't just belong to Peru. Every day it pumps 20 billion tonnes of water vapour into the atmosphere—more than the Amazon River carries to the sea. These aerial rivers travel north and east, feeding rainfall patterns across Europe and the North Atlantic. The Isle of Man's Atlantic climate—all of it is connected to a forest most of us will never see. Whatever happens there, changes everything here.
Who are Junglekeepers?
Conservationist Paul Rosolie established Junglekeepers after witnessing the rapid destruction of the Las Piedras river basin in Peru. Having lived in the Amazon for years, Rosolie shifted from documenting rare species to actively defending their habitat. Junglekeepers serves as a direct intervention against the illegal logging and mining that threaten the last wild corridors of this critical ecosystem.
Junglekeepers saves Peru's pristine Las Piedras river by deploying ranger patrols in solar-electric boats to stop illegal mining. This work is fully Indigenous-led, ensuring the local communities who have inhabited the Amazon for generations are the primary leaders in conservation. By protecting these vital corridors, they ensure the basin remains mercury-free and healthy. It is a collaborative effort where the land's original stewards define the path forward.
Protecting 160,000 acres since 2020, Junglekeepers has eliminated illegal activity in patrolled zones. Impressively, 84% of donations fund direct fieldwork—covering rangers, boats, and equipment. They now aim to reach 300,000 acres.
